Manchester City v Burnley

Manchester City are looking to return to winning ways when Burnley make the short visit to Eastlands on Saturday.

The Citizens found themselves back inside the top four last weekend despite drawing their fourth consecutive league match, a goalless affair at Birmingham City.

Mark Hughes was full of praise for goalkeeper Shay Given after his penalty save at St Andrew's salvaged a point, but the City boss is acutely aware that wins are the order of the day if they are to finish the season in the Champions League qualifying places.

Emmanuel Adebayor is set to return on Saturday after missing the Birmingham game through injury which will boost the frontline, but Brazil star Robinho remains absent with a calf problem.

Stephen Ireland and Martin Petrov could return to the starting line-up after dropping to the bench at Birmingham as Hughes looks for goals to help get back to winning ways.

Burnley continue to defy the critics who suggested they would struggle to make the step up to Premier League level.

Last weekend's 2-0 win over Hull City - their fifth home victory from six games - maintained their place in the top half of the table with 15 points from 11 games.

Away from home it has been a totally different story for the Clarets who have lost five on the trot and that must be a real concern for manager Owen Coyle.

A visit to the City of Manchester Stadium will hardly be a walk in the park and all eyes will be on Coyle's teamsheet to reveal how he intends to tackle a visit to one of the league's most expensively assembled sides.

Burnley have not won a game against City since 1974 when the two sides met in the old Division One.
