Southend United's Paul Sturrock and Port Vale's Micky Adams speak before the game
Both managers involved at Roots Hall this Saturday have their say, and while one still is not sure what his best side is, the other wants then to forget about their next game! Sturrock:With 17 players signed in under a month it's no wonder that Blues boss Paul Sturrock is not certain what he's best eleven is!Luggy told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Because of the situation which has arisen here I still don't know what my strongest team is. No manager could all of a sudden turn around after such a change of personnel and be comfortable in naming his best 11. It takes time but we haven't got that because we have got to be competitive in every game."However, Paul is still content with the progress made so far.He continued: "I'm pleased we have been so far and there will be a clearer picture at the end of the month. But I need to try and get settled in my mind what my strongest side is as quickly as possible."Adams:Both teams face Premiership opposition in the second round of the Carling Cup next week, with Valiants boss Micky Adams Vale travel to Craven Cottage on Wednesday for a second-round tie against their Premier League opponents, but first they face a trip to Roots Hall.Adams told www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk: "If my players take their eye off the ball tomorrow they won't be playing on Wednesday. I doubt they'll do that because they know what I expect of them and know that if I have to send my reserves down to Fulham, I'll do it. I expect them to continue the excellent work they've done so far this season. I haven't seen a hint that they're taking their foot off the pedal - their training has been different class this week. Tomorrow's game is more important to me because it's our bread and butter, and we're paid to win league games. The cup game can be a distraction."Adams will be forced to change his starting line-up for the first time this season as Doug Loft is definitely ruled out after suffering broken ribs and a collapsed lung against Chesterfield last week.Striker Marc Richards also sustained knee and ankle injuries against the Spireites and is a big doubt. Adams continued: "Southend have had a big turnaround of players, but I don't feel sorry for them because they've got a good squad. I think they will be near the top of the table at the end of the season. They have a good manager who knows all about the division. Paul knows what's required, so it's going to be a tough game."
