Tom Soares is a versatile midfield player who signed for Stoke City soon after the start of the 2008-09 campaign. Tom is essentially a central midfielder but he can also play out wide, while his great assets are his driving runs and enthusiasm. He has received few opportunities for Stoke since arriving at the Britannia Stadium, playing much of his football out on loan at Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday. Tom was a fringe player for the Potters in 2010-11 when his only first-team appearance came as a substitute in the FA Cup third round replay with Cardiff. He is a product of the Crystal Palace youth set-up and spent four seasons as a professional with the Eagles, making over 100 first-team appearances.
