Player Details
Phil Jones is a young defender who was with Blackburn Rovers in 2010-11. A product of the club?s youth set-up, he was a regular in the academy team and signed his first professional contract in September 2009. Capable of playing in the centre of defence and at right back, Phil made his senior debut for Rovers in the Carling Cup tie against Nottingham Forest in August 2009 and added further appearances during the 2009-10 season. The 2010-11 campaign proved a real breakthrough for Phil, and with the exception of a period when he was sidelined by injury he was a regular in the line-up. His intelligent, mature performances attracted many admirers and in the summer of 2011 he joined Manchester United for a substantial fee.
