Garry Monk is a central defender and club captain for Swansea City. Signed by the Swans back in the 2004 close season, he is a solid defender, strong in the air, a good tackler and an effective organiser at the back. Garry began his career as a trainee with Torquay and then spent several seasons with Southampton without earning a regular first-team place. He has now made over 150 appearances for the South Wales club and was a regular in the line-up in the first half of 2010-11, leading the back four superbly. However, his season ended prematurely after he was injured in the FA Cup tie with Colchester in January. Garry was back in action for 2011-12 as he started his eighth season with the South Wales club.
