Player Details
Gabriel Tamas is an experienced defender who signed for West Bromwich Albion in July 2010 after spending the second half of the 2009-10 season on loan at The Hawthorns. He is a tall centre back who is effective in the air and a powerful tackler. Gabriel was an ever-present during his loan period and retained his place alongside Jonas Olsson in defence until the beginning of 2011. However, he fell out of favour when Roy Hodgson took over as manager and started just once in the closing 11 games of the season. Gabriel played in Romania for Tractorul Brasov and Dinamo Bucharest then moved around Europe, joining Albion from Auxerre, although at the time of his move he was on loan to Dinamo Bucharest. A former captain of the Romania U21 team, he has more than 50 senior caps.
