Diego Arismendi is a midfield player who joined Stoke City in August 2009. He is a competitive central midfielder, who is effective in the tackle. Diego played in a couple of Carling Cup ties for Stoke soon after signing, but otherwise his only first-team football to date has been played in loan spells elsewhere. He spent the 2010-11 season with Barnsley, where he featured regularly in the side, scoring a single goal in the 5-2 win over Leeds in September. Diego began his career in Uruguay with the Nacional club of Montevideo before moving to the Potteries. He appeared for Uruguay at U17 and U20 levels before progressing to the full national squad.
