Plymouth march on with win over Colchester

Plymouth extended their unbeaten League Two run to 13 matches with a 2-1 home win over Colchester following substitute Ryan Donaldson's instinctive winner.

Donaldson charged down keeper Sam Walker's 87th-minute clearance and the ball looped over the Colchester number one and in for Argyle's 11th win in that excellent sequence.

Plymouth had taken a 16th-minute lead through on-loan Reading winger Craig Tanner, who slotted the ball home from just inside the box with a powerful angled drive that beat Colchester keeper Sam Walker.

Craig Slater restored parity in the 31st minute with a superb free-kick from 20 yards that gave home keeper Luke McCormick no chance.

Only a minute earlier Colchester centre-forward Chris Porter missed a golden opportunity to level when he swiped his six-yard shot wide of an unguarded goal.

Plymouth's dead-ball specialist Graham Carey sent a 25-yard free-kick from the right just wide in the 37th minute.
