Watford mock Cristiano Ronaldo with post-game Twitter remark

Watford's Twitter account have fired shots at Cristiano Ronaldo in the wake of Manchester United's 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

First half strikes from Josh King and Ismaila Sarr saw the Hornets race into a two-goal lead. Substitute Donny van de Beek managed to pull one back for the visitors, only for captain Harry Maguire to receive a red card soon after. Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.

Man Utd's humiliation led to the sacking of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was backed by Bruno Fernandes and David de Gea post-game.

Watford's Twitter admin really wanted to rub salt in the wounds after Solskjaer commented that United needed to play like 'hurt animals' at Vicarage Road though.

Red Devils players have been criticised in the last month for their use of social media, pumping out the same emotionless statements after each defeat.

That doesn't exclude Ronaldo, who tweeted on Friday that United needed to 'roll up the sleeves and get the job done'.

Obviously that's not what happened. But Watford did manage to roll up their sleeves and get the job done, and their Twitter admin was quick to point that out.

Nice to know that Watford's' s***housery isn't just confined to the antics of club mascot Harry the Hornet.

The result means that Watford - notorious for their revolving door policy of managers and head coaches - are now just four points behind United in the Premier League table. Claudio Ranieri's side have also conceded one goal fewer than a team with the most expensive defender of all time.
