Southampton FC Women will play their first home game of the new season on Sunday when Buckland Athletic visit the Snows Stadium, and Virgin Media will be allowing fans to watch the action from the comfort of their own homes.

The Saints' 2019/20 season was brought to an abrupt end as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, and in accordance with the latest safety guidelines, no fans are allowed inside the stadiums for the foreseeable future.

Fortunately, Virgin Media, the team's main partner, will show their continued support for the club by broadcasting the action on Southampton's Facebook and YouTube pages, with former England international Sue Smith set to provide commentary for the event.

Virgin are also launching the all-new Super Saints Hub, which is designed to keep fans at the heart of the action even though they are not physically able to attend games for the time being.

Hosted on the Southampton website, the Super Saints Hub will give fans the opportunity to win signed shirts from the stars of the first team, as well as various other rewards.

Ahead of the men's team's meeting with West Bromwich Albion at St Mary’s Stadium on October 4, Virgin Media will be hosting a “Super Saints Super Giveaway” where fans will be able to win a series of Saints-related prizes, all hosted on the new Super Saints Hub.

“The fact that COVID-19 curtailed our season early means that the women are really excited to get back out there – to have the match live-streamed for football fans around the country to watch is incredibly exciting too," Spacey-Cale said.

“Virgin Media have been a great supporter of us over the last year, so to know that they’re here to help us again this season is another thing to look forward to with the return of football. We’re just looking forward to getting back out there again!”

Cilesta Van Doorn, Executive Director of Brand and Marketing at Virgin Media, added: “While it looks very different from previous years, it’s very exciting that football’s back on the agenda and we are looking forward to what this season brings for Southampton’s Women’s team.

"With no fans allowed inside the stadium, we are providing a live stream of their match which is the only way to watch the team in action. We are calling on all Super Saints to tune in and get behind the team.”
