It's just not getting any better for Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea, is it?
Frank Lampard must have thought he had solved his goalkeeping issue with the purchase of Edouard Mendy during the summer window, with the shot-stopper keeping a clean sheet on his first Premier League start prior to the international break.
But Lampard's worst fears became a reality when Mendy suffered an injury while away on international duty, meaning the boss had a decision to make as to who started in goal for his side's home clash with Southampton.

Was it to be Willy Caballero or the world's most expensive goalkeeper Kepa? Lampard opted to go with the latter...but the 26-year-old once again put in a shaky performance as the Blues were held to a 3-3 draw on Saturday.
Even though Chelsea were 2-0 up and cruising, the Saints were always in with a chance considering the Blues' leaky defence. Sure enough, up popped Danny Ings, who darted through the heart of the defence before rounding Kepa and tapping in moments before half time.
Simply because Kepa was unable to stop Ings from taking the ball round him, a number of fans took to Twitter to voice their frustration. The only problem? It wasn't actually his fault, Kai Havertz was the one to lose the ball in a very dangerous position.
But that doesn't matter, does it?
Kepa is such a bad Keepa.

Bad giveaway, but poor from Kepa there as well

chelsea: *concedes*

chelsea fans: kepa is so bad!!1! ?
However, others were quick to defend the shot-stopper as y'know, not everything is exactly his fault...
Are we blaming Kepa for that goal? Really? That's clearly on Kai Harvetz abeg.

Havertz made an error leading to goal but Chelsea fans are blaming Kepa, the agenda is unreal
— OSH (@oshoalaridwann) October 17, 2020
Poor, poor from Havertz. Kepa is not to blame, and if you're doing that you're only looking for a scapegoat.

Admittedly, however, the statistics once again didn't make for good reading...
Kepa Arrizabalaga has now conceded from four of the last five shots on target he has faced in the Premier League.

Still waiting on that first clean sheet of the campaign. pic.twitter.com/pWzodSun5U
Look, the first goal may not have been his fault, but there is simply no defence for his involvement for Southampton's second.
It was bad. Very bad.
Kurt Zouma looked to turn and play the ball back to his goalkeeper, but ended up playing a very weak pass under pressure. Che Adams chased down the back pass, which Kepa came flying out to meet.
It appeared to be authoritative goalkeeping at first from Kepa...until he decided to pull out and not collect the ball despite sliding for it. As a result, Adams was able to simply collect the ball next to goal and look for his strike partner.
Kepa this season

- Brighton long shot under his arm, 1 - 1
- Liverpool, passes it to Mane, 2 - 0
- Southampton, comes out & runs past the ball 2 - 2
Every single appearance a error at important moments pic.twitter.com/QY8K39hGqz
But as Adams raced to keep it in play, this provided Kepa with the chance to get back and stop the ball from being played across.
Indeed, he got back in time, but erm, he ended up sliding past it on his way back. Adams was therefore able to latch onto the loose ball again and fire into the net.
It was so bad from both Zouma and Kepa. This time, those on Twitter were very much justified in their criticism of the man between the sticks...
I change my mind,

Paying £72m for Kepa is the biggest daylight robbery in the history of this game.
Zouma and Kepa hang your heads that was absolute schoolboy stuff.

Best thing you can say about Kepa is to say: At least he is consistent. Consistently ?
— Men in Blazers (@MenInBlazers) October 17, 2020
Oh, Kepa. ?
— Paul Rissen (@r4isstatic) October 17, 2020
Take a bow Kepa, just when we think he can't do it again ??
— Mr. T (@t_oby_will) October 17, 2020
Chelsea spent 70m on Kepa. Mariana masterclass.

But among some of the frankly ludicrous opinions and the more subtly yet still controversial takes that come with Twitter, one user provided a very...well, well balanced assessment of the events that unfolded...
Kepa is to blame. Zouma is to blame. That is obvious to anyone
— Conn (@ConnCFC) October 17, 2020
Regardless, for the last 20 minutes at home to Southampton, Chelsea shouldn't be getting dominated like that and should be able to keep possession..
Another game, another Kepa mistake. When will Mendy be ready again, Frank?
