Tottenham's Troy Parrott Joins Millwall on Loan for 2020/21 Season

Tottenham have confirmed that Troy Parrott has joined Millwall on loan.

The 18-year-old is highly rated and has already been capped by the Republic of Ireland. He's also appeared several times in the Spurs first team, including two brief cameos from the bench in the Premier League.

Parrott will be hoping to gain further experience at Millwall next season after Tottenham confirmed the deal via the club's Twitter account. The Lions enjoyed an impressive 2019/20 campaign with manager Gary Rowett guiding them to an eighth placed finish in the Championship.

They missed out on a play-off spot by just two points and will be hoping that signing Parrott can help them go one better next season.

The Irishman had hoped to seal a loan move away from north London back in January, only to have his chances scuppered by a UEFA regulation. Parrott was just four days short of being considered a club-trained for Spurs, leading them to pull out of a deal to prevent difficulties in European squad registration in the future.

Tottenham fans frequently called for José Mourinho to include the youngster in the first team during the season, particularly when Harry Kane and Heung-min Son's absences left them without a recognised striker. However, the former Chelsea boss stood firm in his belief that he wasn't ready.

"He is not ready, he is not ready. He’s a good kid, a good talent, he’s a kid we want to help," Mourinho said back in March.

These frustrations did not stop him signing a new three-year deal with the club in February and he will now look to impress his parent club while on loan. Tottenham captain Harry Kane also spent time at Millwall earlier in his career, making 27 appearances and scoring nine goals during the 2011/2012 campaign.
