It is becoming more and more likely that Denmark and Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard will be a Premier League player next season.

The 21-year-old has been hailed as a bright prospect since his senior debut for Nordsjaelland at the age of 17, and after a solid debut season in Serie A with Sampdoria last campaign, it was his barnstorming performance at Euro 2020 this summer that has propelled him into the limelight.

With increased interest in the 21-year old following on from Denmark's fantastic showing at the European Championships, Calciomercato (via hitc.com) report that Damsgaard is looking likely to be a Premier League player sooner rather than later.

As well as interest from several Italian clubs, the winger has been linked to Crystal Palace, West Ham, Southampton, Leeds, Leicester and Tottenham in England. Spurs director of football Fabio Paratici is reportedly very keen to bring the Dane to the club, having been an admirer of the youngster throughout his time in Serie A.

And, with his talismanic role in filling the hole left by Christian Eriksen's absence at Euro 2020, he has been seen as the player to replace his compatriot at Tottenham - whom the club have struggled to replace since his departure in January 2020.

Damsgaard has previously stated that he wants to take a cautious approach to future moves, suggesting he is concerned about leaving Sampdoria - where he has thrived - too soon. However, with his agent in talks with numerous Premier League clubs, the 21-year-old seems more likely than ever to secure a big move away.

He won't be cheap to any suitors, though. As well as a good domestic season, Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero claimed that his player's value had increased due to his performances during Euro 2020.

"At least £30m. If he scores again, he will reach £40m," Ferrero said after the 21-year-old's group stage matches.

Although Denmark eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat in the Euro 2020 semi-final, following Damsgaard's sublimely-struck free-kick to put his side 1-0 up against England at Wembley, Sampdoria will undoubtedly look to recoup at least £40m for their man.
