Southampton predicted lineup vs Everton - Premier League

Southampton welcome Everton to St. Mary's Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon after a week to remember for the Saints.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side emerged unbeaten from their last three Premier League matches, drawing with Manchester City at home before earning four points from trips to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Old Trafford.

After the luxury of a week's rest - following a 63 hour turnaround between those latter two fixtures - here's the XI Hasenhuttl may call upon this Saturday.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Fraser Forster (GK) - As one of only three teams this season to have used three different goalkeepers, Forster's performances of late my have nudged him to the top of that pecking order.

Tino Livramento (RB) - Granted his first league minutes of 2022 at Old Trafford, Hasenhuttl may give Livramento a first start since Boxing Day - though it would be painful to drop Kyle Walker-Peters given his recent form.

Jack Stephens (CB) - Doubts lingering over Jan Bednarek's fitness may have provided a crack in the door for Stephens to return after he lost his place following an injury of his own in September.

Mohammed Salisu (CB) - Statistically analysing a centre back is a thankless task but one particular trait in Salisu's game can be gleamed from his status among the Premier League's top three for tackles, interceptions and clearances; he's busy.

Romain Perraud (LB) - Ligue 1's most prolific assisting defender finally broke his Premier League duck away to Tottenham last week.

2. Midfielders

Stuart Armstrong (RM) - A regular under Hasenhuttl when fit, Armstrong is one of only five Saints players to have cracked triple digits for appearances during the Austrian's tenure.

Oriol Romeu (CM) - The former Chelsea midfielder played 15 matches alongside current Everton boss Frank Lampard for the Blues in the 2011/12 campaign, losing just once.

James Ward-Prowse (CM) - The Saints skipper is poised to make his 200th career appearance alongside Romeu since the pair first laced up next to one another against Everton funnily enough in 2015.

Nathan Redmond (LM) - Southampton's leading assist-provider could make his first league start of the month at the ground where all five of his goals have been created this term.

3. Forwards

Che Adams (ST) - With two in his last two, Adams has the chance to find the net in three successive league games for the first time since March 2021.

Armando Broja (ST) - The team's joint-top scorer is utterly non-plussed when it comes to any link play, attempting the fewest passes with the worst completion rate of any outfield regular in the squad.
