Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has refused to rule centre-back Harry Maguire out for the team's final two games of the season.
The club captain has missed his side's last two games because of a knee injury which is not understood to be too serious, but time is not on Maguire's side as United have just two games left to go.
United will end their campaign against Crystal Palace on 22 May but are focused first on a trip to Brighton on Saturday, and Rangnick admitted that Maguire is in with a shout of returning for that game.
“Harry Maguire might be available again," Rangnick revealed. "We have to wait and see if he can train on [Wednesday]."
Unfortunately, it is looking more and more likely that Jadon Sancho's campaign is over. The young winger has been battling tonsillitis which has also kept him out of the last two games, and Rangnick does not believe he will be healthy enough to return this season.
“If [he returns], then maybe in the last game,” said Rangnick. “I was in contact with him this afternoon. He was in hospital until this morning so he only returned back home today. He still doesn't feel well so, for sure, not [for Brighton].”
Edinson Cavani and Fred returned to Rangnick's squad for the 3-0 victory over Brentford, but the interim boss remains without Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba, the latter of whom looks increasingly likely to have played his final game for the club ahead of the expiry of his contract this summer.
