PSV Eindhoven vs Leicester City: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

12 April 2022 09:30

Leicester City travel to Eindhoven on Thursday with their Europa Conference League tie against PSV finely poised after the first leg.

The two teams played out an intriguing 0-0 draw last week and each will be desperate to book their place in the final four.

Leicester head into this one off the back of an impressive 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The Foxes were even able to rest a few key players for the visit of Patrick Vieira's side, leaving them in good shape for Thursday.

PSV also won at the weekend, clinching a 2-0 victory over RKC Waalwijk to maintain a four-point gap behind Ajax at the Eredivisie summit.

PSV Eindhoven team news

PSV rested a string of key players at the weekend with Noni Madueke, Mario Gotze, Cody Gakpo and Eran Zahavi all having their legs saved.

As such, we can expect a much-changed starting XI from Roger Schmidt, who will also welcome Erick Gutierrez back from suspension.

Leicester City team news

Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana were left out of the team that hosted Palace, but they are likely to be restored in the Netherlands.

Nampalys Mendy, who has been Leicester's go-to Wilfred Ndidi replacement in recent months, was frustratingly not registered for this competition and is therefore unavailable.

In a further blow, Jamie Vardy remains out, while Ayoze Perez is a doubt after suffering with illness recently. Boubakary Soumare is another long-term absentee.

PSV Eindhoven vs Leicester City score prediction

This is a big game for both teams, but Leicester will be more desperate for a result than their opponents. Lose here and PSV still have a cup final and a title race to keep them occupied, whereas a defeat would end Leicester's season.

This is bad news for Foxes fans, who have watched their team wilt under the pressure in similarly intense occasions in recent seasons.

Then again, this game does come with Leicester in the midst of an upturn in form instigated by the return of their starting centre-back pairing. Kelechi Iheanacho has also looked pretty good, which will give Leicester confidence of scoring, even though Vardy will miss out.
