Premier League clubs that should look to sign Max Aarons - ranked

As Norwich prepare for a return to Premier League football next season, rumours have begun swirling around one of their prized possessions.

Right-back Max Aarons is being heavily linked with a move away from the club after he was priced out of a potential transfer last summer. After a string of impressive performances this year helped secure immediate promotion, reports now suggest that he will be allowed to leave for a Premier League club should their asking price be met.

With many clubs in the market for a young, attacking right-back, 90min takes a look at which clubs should be at the head of the queue this summer.

5. West Ham United

The Hammers have enjoyed a fantastic season this year and much of it has been down to how good they've been defensively.

David Moyes has switched between playing three and four at the back and Aarons' ability to drive forward and also defend in one-on-one scenarios would see him slot into the system rather easily.

He'd provide great competition for Vladimir Coufal, but the asking price is likely to be a little too high for a backup option for them.

Suitability: 5/10

4. Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has got Manchester United in the best shape they've been in since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013, and that is in part due to the level of competition within the squad,

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the undisputed number one right-back at the club, but he has some glaring deficiencies going forward which causes United problems when coming up against a low block.

Aarons could offer something different in attacking scenarios, plus his age and potential mean United could see him as an investment.

Suitability: 6/10

3. Newcastle United

Steve Bruce's side have been tough to watch for the most part this season, with a real lack of talent in attacking areas being a key concern.

Newcastle have often played Jacob Murphy at wing-back, but Aarons would be a far better solution in the position. He could also join a former teammate after Jamal Lewis joined last summer, so he'd settle in quickly.

Aarons would be seen as a long-term investment with re-sale value, something Mike Ashley will likely be licking his lips at.

Suitability: 7/10

2. Tottenham Hotspur

With Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty already taking up right-back roles, Aarons may not seem needed right away at Tottenham.

But with a new manager set to enter the fray, it's unlikely that Aurier will survive the chopping block once more and that should open up a spot for Aarons.

Suitability: 8/10

1. Everton

A world class manager and a club looking to break into Europe, Everton seem like a perfectly placed club to take on a top young talent in their squad.

Seamus Coleman is the starter right now but he's getting on a bit in age and the club could do worse than planning for life without him. Aarons would compete with him for a starting spot at first then eventually take over the role.

Everton have the money to make it happen and he's good enough to make a difference, so it's a no-brainer.

Suitability: 9/10
