Netflix FINALLY Announce Air Date for Season Two of Sunderland Disasterclass Documentary

It's finally here. The most anticipated television - well, streaming - event since the Game of Thrones finale. 

Series Two of Sunderland 'Til I Die will be coming to Netflix on...wait for it...April Fools Day. 

The immensely popular first series documented the Black Cats' return to the Championship following their relegation from the ​Premier League at the end of the 2016/2017 season. 

Despite the opening episode detailing Sunderland's plans for an immediate return to the top flight, that's not exactly what went down... 

After a terrible start - in which the club picked up just one win from their opening 15 Championship matches - manager Simon Grayson was sacked. With Sunderland rooted to the bottom of the table they turned to former Wales boss Chris Coleman. 

Coleman comes across fairly well in the documentary, introducing himself to all the staff personally and communicating well with the players. It is therefore, quite sad to witness him descend into madness as the Black Cats continue to struggle.

The series and season ended with Sunderland's relegation, a major restructuring at boardroom level and Coleman being started on by a very angry Mackem.


It was a tantalising set up for a sequel, but what can fan expect to see in series two? 


Well, the early stages of the documentary should make less entertaining viewing - especially for those for an appetite for schadenfreude. Never fear though, Sunderland ramped up the nonsense towards the end of the season. 


First, viewers will be treated to Jack Ross' side losing to Portsmouth in the EFL Trophy final at Wembley. The Black Cats avenged this defeat by defeating Pompey in the League One playoff semi finals to book another date at the Home of Football against Charlton.

This will no doubt be the climax of the Shakespearean tragedy as viewers will be able to delight - or cry - at the Addicks scoring a 94th minute winner to clinch themselves a place in the Premier League and condemn Sunderland to another season in the third tier.


It's gonna be unadulterated, beautiful carnage. We cannot wait.
