As the Jadon Sancho saga continues to rot away at our brains, Manchester United have added another player to their contingency list should their pursuit fail to materialise.
With Borussia Dortmund playing hardball on their valuation of Sancho, United are at risk of being priced out of a move in a deal they deem to expensive for the current market.
Standing firm on their £108m valuation, it's pay up or jog on for United, who for fear of missing out on their number one target this summer, have been linked with a host of names across Europe. From Juventus' Douglas Costa to Bournemouth's David Brooks, we now move on to Watford's Ismaila Sarr.In an otherwise atrocious Hornets side last season, the 22-year-old was one of few bright sparks as the Hertfordshire outfit slumped to relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the season.
As per the Independent, Sarr has now been added to the list of alternatives the Red Devils could pursue in place of Sancho. Initial contact has been made.
The Senegalese forward only joined Watford last summer, a deal that was considered a real coup when they beat off interest to bring him in on a club record £30m deal. His stay could be short lived though, as even Liverpool have been linked with taking him off the Hornets' hands before 5 October.
Any club seeking to sign the winger will likely have to stump up a fee in the region of what Watford spent to sign him from Rennes, although their hand has been weakened somewhat by the obvious issue of no longer being a top-flight team.
Five Premier League goals for Sarr last campaign were a credible return, but he is yet to feature in the 2020/21 season despite the Hornets having kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.
