Leicester vs Roma: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

27 April 2022 14:00

Leicester will be looking to put one foot in the Europa Conference League final when they welcome Roma to the King Power Stadium in the first leg of the pair's semi-final tie.

In the previous round the Foxes required late goals from James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira to down PSV Eindhoven. That victory pretty much kept their season alive as they have nothing left to play for domestically.

Meanwhile, Roma recovered from a first-leg defeat by smashing Bodo/Glimt 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to progress into the semi-finals. They are still jostling for position in Serie A's top six and come into this one without a win from their previous two league games.

Here is everything you need to know as Jose Mourinho squares off against former apprentice Brendan Rodgers...

Leicester team news

The headline news for the Foxes is the potential return of Jamie Vardy up front. The long-injured number nine came off the bench against Aston Villa but could be fit enough to play from the start here.

Despite this boost, it is not all good news in the Leicester camp. Ryan Bertrand, Boubakary Soumare and, most damagingly, Wilfred Ndidi, remain sidelined. Jonny Evans is facing a race against time too after failing to make the squad last time out.

Roma team news

Nicolo Zaniolo is a big reason why Roma have made it this far, with the forward netting a much-needed hat-trick in the last eight against Bodo/Glimt. However, he missed out against Inter and it remains to be seen if he'll be back here.

Bryan Cristante and Leonardo Spinazzola are both major doubts too.

Leicester vs Roma score prediction

This is a big game for both managers. Mourinho will be desperate to strengthen his reputation as a 'winner' by making Roma the inaugural Europa Conference League champions.

Meanwhile, Rodgers will be keen to make sure Leicester remain in a continental competition next season, as it will help with his planned summer rebuild.

On the pitch, this is bound to be a tight. There is plenty to like about each side, but they each have plenty of weak points too – hence their underachievement domestically this term. A score draw seems most likely, which would set up a dramatic climax in the Eternal City.

Prediction: Leicester 1-1 Roma
