22 October 2020 23:58

Leicester started their Europa League campaign emphatically, breezing to a 3-0 win over Zorya Luhansk at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes took the lead on the half hour mark with James Maddison eventually scoring the rebound from Harvey Barnes' fierce shot following a goalmouth scramble.

Barnes then doubled his side's advantage with an ice cool finish after some good work from Kelechi Iheanacho. The Nigerian got in on the act himself after the break, spinning free of his marker and rolling the ball into the bottom corner.

Here are your Leicester player ratings on a great night for Foxes fans...

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Kasper Schmeichel (GK) - 7/10 - Made a couple of important saves when things weren't going Leicester's way early on. One distribution error could have proved costly.

Timothy Castagne (RB) - 7/10 -
Played very high on the right, and despite not having much joy, the Belgian was a constant threat.

Jonny Evans (CB) - 7/10 -
A bit shaky early on but soon settled and put in a typically dominant performance.

Wesley Fofana (CB) - 8/10 -
Looked extremely comfortable on the ball, driving out from the back with ease. Came within inches of scoring as well with a towering header.

Christian Fuchs (LB) - 7/10 -
Rolled back the years with a solid performance. Lasted the full 90 minutes as well. Age is just a number.

2. Midfielders

Papy Mendy (DM) - 8/10 - The standard Mendy performance. Did not put a foot wrong at the base of midfield.

Continued his recovery from injury with an impressive 65 minute spell. Scored and generally looked sharp. Very encouraging.

Youri Tielemans (CM) - 7/10 -
Ill-judged personal foul saw him cautioned with just ten minutes played. After that he linked things together nicely.

Dennis Praet (CM) - 7/10 -
Accomplished midfield display. Drove forward when he could and broke up the play.

Harvey Barnes (LM) - 9/10 -
Truly brilliant performance. His fierce shot led to the first goal and he scored himself soon after.
