Kylian Mbappe praises Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel

Kylian Mbappe has heaped praise on Thomas Tuchel, tipping the Chelsea manager to remain one of the world's best coaches for years to come.

The pair worked together at Paris Saint-Germain between 2018 and 2020, a period in which Mbappe flourished. During Tuchel's tenure, the French forward managed 83 goals in 98 appearances, also laying on 46 assists.

Asked about his former boss in an interview with BILD (via today.ng), Mbappe praised his tactical acumen.

"He’s fantastic tactically. He knows exactly how opponents will behave and can predict matches very accurately," he said.

Tuchel proved his tactical prowess last season. Taking over a leaky Chelsea side who sat outside the Champions League places in January, he almost immediately transformed the Blues into a more solid outfit.

As the season progressed he masterminded three wins over Manchester City - including one in the Champions League final - and made sure of a top four finish. One of the only blots on his record was an FA Cup final defeat to Leicester City.

Mbappe believes that there is still plenty to come from Tuchel as well, saying: "And we must also take this into account: he is still a very young coach. He can become one of the best coaches of the future. He proved it no sooner than with his victory in the Champions League."

Mbappe himself has been linked with a move away from PSG in recent times. With the Parisians failing to clinch European glory and even surrendering the Ligue 1 title to Lille last season, the forward is thought to be looking for a fresh challenge.

Only a small number of European clubs could afford Mbappe, Chelsea being one of them. However, his French teammates Karim Benzema and Lucas Hernandez have been trying to convince him to join Real Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively.
