Juventus confirm Cristiano Ronaldo sale to Man Utd

Juventus have officially confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has been sold to Manchester United.

United announced a shock deal for the return of the Portuguese after 12 years away from Old Trafford on Friday, with the now 36-year-old expected to have agreed a two-year deal with an option for a third.

The former Italian champions have now confirmed United will pay €15m over five years as part of the deal, with an additional €8m payable in performance-related add ons.

The club said in an official statement:

"Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that it has reached an agreement with Manchester United FC Ltd for the definitive disposal of the registration rights of the player Dos Santos Aveiro Cristiano Ronaldo, for a consideration of €15.0m, payable in five financial years, which may be increased during the duration of the player's sports performance contract, by an amount not higher than €8m, upon the achievement of specific sporting objectives.

"This operation generates a negative economic impact on the 2020/2021 financial year equal to €14m, due to the effect the adjustment of the net book value of the player's right to sports services."

The statement was accompanied by a post on the club's website saying goodbye to Ronaldo, who joined in July 2018. Official confirmation from United is expected to follow shortly.
