Jurgen Klopp gives injury latest on Thiago, Trent Alexander-Arnold & Diogo Jota

Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara remains a doubt for the club’s Premier League clash with Watford on Saturday, although Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota are likely to feature.

Thiago was outstanding in Liverpool’s Premier League win over Leeds last month but has missed the last four games in all competitions because of a calf injury suffered against Crystal Palace.

“Thiago needs probably a little bit longer, [he] was not in team training yet – that’s always not a good sign for starting the next game,” was Jurgen Klopp’s assessment to LiverpoolFC.com.

The Spanish midfielder missed a significant chunk of last season because of injury and his ongoing absence if a major blow for Liverpool given the form he was starting to show.

There is better news, however, regarding Alexander-Arnold and Jota.

The former did not feature against Manchester City in the last game before the international break and did not link up with England as a result, while the latter withdrew from the Portugal squad.

“So it looks really like Trent and Diogo will be fine, they will train with us [on Thursday] completely normal, that’s the plan,” Klopp explained.

“And the rest [of the] international [players], some are back, obviously some are not back yet. And we will see,” the Liverpool boss added.

The Reds are the only Premier League team with an unbeaten record still intact this season and will be expected to take another three points against a Watford side in the bottom half.

Liverpool signed off before the international break with a hard fought 2-2 draw with Manchester City that left them second in the table, a single point behind early leaders Chelsea.
