Jamie Vardy has entered the Premier League 100 goal club, scoring a brace as Leicester ended their bad run of form with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Vardy had reached 99 goals in the final game prior to the football's enforced break but had failed to net in any of the Foxes' three games since the league's return, as well as drawing a blank during his side's FA Cup meeting with Chelsea.
Games against Watford, Brighton and Everton all passed without the 33-year-old hitting the back of the net, but he finally completed his century against the Eagles. Harvey Barnes capitalised on some slopping Palace defending, before laying the ball to Vardy for the simplest of tap-ins. The former England international looked visibly relieved to finally get the 100 goal monkey off of his back.
The former Fleetwood Town man then added his second goal and Leicester's third with Barnes again providing the assist. Bending his run perfectly to stay onside, Vardy raced onto the end of a through ball in trademark style before calmly stroking the ball past Vicente Guaita.
He becomes just the 29th man to score 100 goals in the Premier League and just the third Leicester player to do so, after Les Ferdinand and Emile Heskey. Vardy will now turn his attention to clinching this season's Golden Boot with his most recent strike putting him two ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on 21 goals.
The win was a welcome one for Brendan Rodgers' side who had felt there Champions League place might have been slipping through their fingers in recent weeks. It was the Foxes' first victory since the Premier League restart and they now hold an eight point lead over sixth placed Wolves who take on Arsenal on Saturday evening.
