Exclusive - Everton are at the front of the queue to sign Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo - but the Toffees will face competition for his signature from six other teams in the Premier League and Championship.

Adarabioyo is currently on a season-long loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he's made 27 appearances across all competitions for the club, scoring two goals and picking up an assist to help the club to within touching distance of the playoffs.

The 22-year-old will return to parent club this summer, but Adarabioyo only has a contract with Manchester City until 2021 and without a clear path into the first team, he will be allowed to leave ahead of the new season.

A source has told 90min that Everton are leading the race to sign Adarabioyo this summer, but north-west rivals Burnley are also interested in signing the former England Under-19 international.

That's not all, with Premier League rivals Leicester CityWolverhampton WanderersNewcastle United and Southampton all interested in taking Adarabioyo away from Manchester City, while Championship side Leeds United have asked to be kept in the loop about any developments.

Although Adarabioyo will only have 12 months left on his contract, City will set their initial asking price at £20m. The club will also demand a buy-back clause is included in a deal this summer, just as they did with Douglas Luiz's move to Aston Villa last year.

Manchester City have been pleased with Adarabioyo's progress since he left the club to spend two years on loan in the Championship - he impressed at West Brom last season - but it won't be enough to keep him at the Etihad beyond the summer.

Adarabioyo has spent the 17 years tied to Manchester City, first joining the club as a five-year-old, and he's been a key part of the club's youth set-up over the years.

The 22-year-old's last appearance for the club came during the 2017/18 season, in a 2-1 defeat to Swiss side FC Basel in the Champions League.
