Cristiano Ronaldo will make his return from a hip injury in Manchester United's Premier League clash at Brentford on Wednesday evening.

The Portuguese superstar missed both of United's recent meetings with Aston Villa - a 1-0 win in the FA Cup and a 2-2 draw in the Premier League - due to an ongoing hip problem, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick revealing on Saturday that he was hopeful of Ronaldo's return in their next fixture.

And Ronaldo has indeed shaken off the injury and will lead the line for the Red Devils at the Brentford Community Stadium.

However, club captain Harry Maguire remains on the bench despite his recent return to the fold, while there's no place in the squad for England teammate Luke Shaw despite serving his suspension.

Anthony Elanga starts again for Man Utd after impressing in the weekend draw at Villa, while Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford return to the squad.

Rangnick confirmed prior to kick-off that Edinson Cavani picked up a muscle problem in training on Tuesday and so has remained in Manchester.
