Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham faces up to three months on the sidelines with yet another injury after seeing a potential move to the Championship collapse.

The 27-year-old forward has only started four Premier League games in last four years for the Eagles, but enjoyed a relatively successful 2019/20 campaign where he spent the second half of the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

His 19 league appearances were Wickham's highest total for five years, but his latest setback scuppered another move away from Selhurst Park this season, according to The Sun.

The Owls, and an unnamed Championship side, were interested in singing the former England Under-21 international, but a pulled muscle halted those plans, and Wickham now faces up to three months of treatment and rehab before he'll be able to feature again.

It's been a torrid few years for the Ipswich Town academy graduate since making the £7m switch to the capital in the summer of 2015, having scored 11 goals and provided five assists in just 50 games for Palace.

Wickham was once very highly-rated after breaking onto the scene at boyhood club Ipswich. His performances were enough for Sunderland to part with £8m in the winter of 2011, but several injuries have seriously hampered the Englishman's progression.

Roy Hodgson's side signed Belgium international striker Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea in the summer so it is thought Wickham would be allowed to leave for the right price or on loan in the next window.
