Chelsea ensured it would be an all-English Champions League final as they booked their place in the showpiece event with a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
The home side thought they'd taken the lead with just 18 minutes on the clock though Timo Werner's joy was curtailed by the linesman's flag, but it wasn't long before he was wheeling away in celebration once again.
Some lovely linkup play between the Chelsea frontman and N'Golo Kante resulted in Kai Havertz chipping a clever effort against the frame of the goal, before Werner followed in and headed home a chance even he couldn't miss.
As the visitors pushed forward in search of an equaliser Chelsea hit them on the break and the Blues were guilty of missing a hatful of chances with Thibaut Courtois on superb form.
Real offered precious little despite their desperation to push forward late on, and they were hit with a suckerpunch as Mason Mount notched Chelsea's second to confirm their place alongside Manchester City in this season's Champions League final.
Chelsea player ratings
1. Goalkeeper & defenders
Edouard Mendy (GK) - 8/10 - A couple of absolutely fantastic saves to deny Karim Benzema midway through the first half. One of his best performances in a Chelsea shirt.
Andreas Christensen (CB) - 7/10 - Picked up a yellow card in the first half and was walking a tightrope for the rest of the game, but regained composure to put in a solid display,
Thiago Silva (CB) - 7/10 - Marshalled the Chelsea backline and barely put a foot wrong all evening. Could be heard and seen moving his defensive partners into the right positions and was integral to the win.
Antonio Rudiger (CB) - 7/10 - Hit a sweet effort early on that called Courtois into action. Defended well at the back post as Real started to throw late crosses into the box.
2. Midfielders & wing-backs
Cesar Azpilicueta (RWB) - 6/10 - Didn't have the impact going forward that Ben Chilwell did on the opposite flank but was very solid defensively.
N'Golo Kante (CM) - 9/10 - Absolutely superb bit of play to expose the Real midfield before setting up Havertz in the buildup to Chelsea's opener. Broke up play all evening and was an absolute monster in the midfield.
Jorginho (CM) - 7/10 - For once in our lives we're not going to write 'kept things ticking over in midfield'. Hassled the Real midfield and won the ball back on a number of occasions, though did pick up an early yellow for his troubles.
Ben Chilwell (LWB) - 7/10 - Surged forward all evening and caused the Real right-hand side a lot of problems. Put in a very good shift for the team.
Mason Mount (RW) - 7/10 - Caused Eder Militao all sorts of problems cutting in from the Chelsea left but missed a glorious opportunity to put the tie to bed in the second half. Eventually got his goal to secure the win.
Kai Havertz (ST) - 7/10 - Very unlucky to see his chipped effort hit the crossbar but was a little greedy at times and looked to beat his man when he should have picked his head up. Led the line well and can be pleased with his efforts.
Timo Werner (LW) - 7/10 - Caught criminally offside when he thought he'd opened the scoring but soon made up for it with a poacher's goal. Continued to make direct runs and was a menace while he was on the pitch.
Christian Pulisic (RW) - 7/10
Reece James (RWB) - N/A
Hakim Ziyech (RW) - N/A
Olivier Giroud (ST) - N/A

5. Goalkeeper & defenders
Thibaut Courtois (GK) - 8/10 - Made a couple of handy saves early on and continued his fine form into the rest of the game. Chelsea would have been out of sight by the hour-mark if it wasn't for his superb ability in one-on-one situations.
Nacho Fernandez (RB) - 5/10 - Might as well have booked himself a flight back home to Madrid after Kante sent him packing with a drop of the shoulder prior to Chelsea's opener.
Eder Militao (CB) - 4/10 - Torn to shreds by Mount and couldn't get close to the youngster. Didn't look comfortable stepping into the wide areas.
Sergio Ramos (CB) - 5/10 - Restored to the Real starting XI after a number of weeks on the sidelines and picked up his customary yellow card which was nice of him. Looked off the pace and Zinedine Zidane will possibly regret throwing him in so soon.
Ferland Mendy (LB) - 5/10 - Showed plenty of willingness to press Chelsea's midfield but couldn't get a foot on the ball and was dragged off just after the hour mark.
Luka Modric (CM) - 5/10 - Played in a very deep position and subsequently couldn't knit up play with the frontline and midfield like he usually does.
Casemiro (CM) - 5/10 - Beaten to the punch by Kante as he tore Real's midfield apart before Werner's opener. Taken off with 15 minutes to play as Real went in search of an equaliser.
Toni Kroos (CM) - 6/10 - Sprayed the ball about with his usual poise but couldn't really impact proceedings much in the final third.
Vinicius Junior (RW) - 5/10 - Tasked with tucking in and tracking Ben Chilwell as well as causing a threat going forward. Dragged off with an hour played.
Karim Benzema (ST) - 6/10 - Dropped deep to link up play with the midfield. Twice denied by brilliant saves from Edouard Mendy in the first half.
Eden Hazard (LW) - 3/10 - Could have been wearing a Chelsea shirt and we still wouldn't have noticed him. Had one decent effort in the second half but Mendy coped with it comfortably.
Federico Valverde (RWB) - 6/10
Marco Asensio (LW) - 5/10
Rodrygo (RW) - 6/10
Mariano Díaz (ST) - N/A
