Leicester City centre-back Caglar Soyuncu faces up to three months out injured after suffering an abductor tear.
The 24-year-old Turkey international picked up the injury while on international duty and was absent for the Foxes' 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend. The had a scan that confirmed the extent of the damage and revealed the full extent of the issue.
"The muscle is right off the bone so he could be out for three months which is an absolute shame for him and a big miss for us," said Brendan Rodgers, via Sky Sports.
The former Freiburg man has become a regular of the 2016 Premier League champions' defence in recent seasons, making 54 appearances in all competitions since his arrival in 2018.
Soyuncu's injury will leave Leicester light at the back, however, Rodgers did manage to tie up a deal for former St. Etienne defender Wesley Fofana before the transfer window shut and handed the 19-year-old his debut on Sunday.
The Foxes are set to welcome Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk to the King Power Stadium in midweek as their Europa League campaign gets underway. However, they'll do so without several key names.
Influential midfielder Wilfried Ndidi is out for a similar length of time as Soyuncu, while talisman Jamie Vardy was on the sidelines for the Villa game with a calf problem, something Rodgers is hopeful he'll have recovered from in time for their next league match against Arsenal.
"Jamie [Vardy] will probably miss the European game and hopefully he'll be okay for our next league game. It's just a recurrence of what he's had over the last number of years," added the Northern Irish manager.
The surprise loss at home to Dean Smith's side leaves Leicester with nine points from their first five matches, having suffered back-to-back defeats.
