Brendan Rodgers says he does not expect James Maddison to return from injury until after the international break, meaning he is likely to miss Leicester's FA Cup quarter final with Manchester United and is a doubt for England's World Cup qualifiers in March.
The attacking midfielder had been in a rich vein of form for the Foxes since the turn of the year, chipping in with five goals and four assists in his last 10 Premier League appearances. However, he has missed Leicester's last three top flight matches with a hip injury.
Maddison underwent hip surgery last summer after missing the final six games of the 2019/20 season, and his current problem is a different injury but in the same area.
Rodgers revealed that there was no exact timescale for the England international's return, and it is just a case of waiting for the pain to subside before he becomes available again.
"We’re probably looking at seeing where he is at after the international break," the Leicester boss said (via the Daily Mail.)
“Day on day he is getting better. There is no sort of timeline on it. It’s just really about how he’s going to feel. There’s a little bit of soreness there, but he’s working with the medical team very hard. He’s as frustrated as us all really. He’s such a big player for us. But hopefully he’ll play a real part for us in the closing games.

"It’s just waiting and seeing how he reacts to some of the work he’s doing. It’s in the same area, but it’s not the same injury that was repaired before. There’s obviously a reaction there in the tendon and we need to see how that develops but hopefully, fingers crossed, he’ll be back sooner rather than later.”
Maddison had registered 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions prior to his season being disrupted by injury, with Leicester once again in the thick of a top four battle.
