Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira returns to his former club on Monday night - only this time as an opposition manager.

The Frenchman has lifted the mood at Crystal Palace since taking over in the summer, even if the Eagles have not always got the results that their performances have warranted.

Meanwhile, Arsenal were in good form prior to the international break, winning four on the bounce in all competitions before securing a credible away draw against high-flying Brighton.

After experiencing a selection crisis at the beginning of the season, Arsenal have close to a clean bill of health for this one.

Granit Xhaka is the only confirmed absentee, as he is recovering from a long-term knee injury. Gabriel Martinelli picked up a knock in the international break but might still make the bench.

Aside from these issues, Arteta has a full squad to choose from for the visit of Crystal Palace.

Things are similarly rosy for Vieira. Aside from Eberechi Eze and Nathan Ferguson, who both have plenty of work to do before they return, there are no injury concerns for Palace.

Competition for places is hot for the Eagles with goal-shy Jordan Ayew one of the names under threat. He should keep his place over Michael Olise here though, thanks to his tireless work rate and discipline.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace head-to-head record

There has been very little to choose between these two sides in recent years. Out of the last six Premier League meetings, each side has won once while the other four games have ended all square.

Stretching further back, Arsenal have traditionally dominated, winning on 29 occasions against their opponents in their history while Palace have beaten them just five times.

Last season, the Gunners triumphed 3-1 at Selhurst Park while the north London meeting ended in a drab 0-0 draw.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace score prediction

Vieira returning to his former stomping ground (or nearby to it, at least) should make for a fascinating narrative. On the pitch, things could be interesting too with a newly-confident Palace likely to take the game to their opponents more readily than they have done in recent years.

In the past this has tended to be a tight encounter and we are expecting the same on Monday. Arsenal are still fragile mentally despite some recent results and this should give Palace the impetus to secure an impressive Premier League point.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Crystal Palace
