Alisson & Fabinho expected to miss Liverpool's clash with Watford

Liverpool expect to be without goalkeeper Alisson Becker and midfielder Fabinho for their clash with Watford on Saturday due to their international commitments with Brazil.

The last international break caused all kinds of havoc for Premier League sides with stars from South American countries after the league agreed 'reluctantly but unanimously' to prevent players from playing in red-list countries.

It was announced before the international break that fully vaccinated players would be allowed to travel to red-list countries and then quarantine in 'bespoke facilities' when they arrive back in the United Kingdom.

However, regardless of those rules, Brazil play Uruguay early on Friday morning and getting Alisson and Fabinho ready both mentally and physically to face Watford on Saturday is 'impractical', according to the Telegraph.

Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher are the two back-up goalkeepers in the Reds squad, with the latter more likely to be preferred between the sticks. Liverpool would go top of the Premier League table with victory at Vicarage Road.

Jurgen Klopp will also have to deal with Diogo Jota's injury issues. The forward has been sent home by Portugal, having missed their 3-0 victory over Qatar at the weekend while not training with his teammates. He's doubtful to make the squad to face the Hornets, though fortunately Roberto Firmino will be available as he was not called up for the latest Brazil squad.

In better news, Trent Alexander-Arnold has recovered from a groin problem and will be available, having missed the 2-2 draw with Manchester City before the international break. The right back had also been absent from the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace through illness.

Alisson and Fabinho will at least be available to travel with the squad for their Champions League fixture with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday next week.
