Hughton Says He Took A Gamble Against Cardiff

Chris Hughton threw in the new signings against Cardiff and feared his new-look back-line could backfire. Chris Hughton: “We were actually disappointed with the Cardiff goal late on. “But I’m really pleased overall for the back four – when you think that only Danny Simpson was a regular member of the back four the rest came in and did well. “I was delighted with Mike Williamson, Fitz Hall and Patrick Van Aanholt who have not played a great deal of football lately. “If I look at what has got us to where we are, it is the stability of the back four. "Fabricio Coloccini has played through his injury for the last couple of games, and he could have played against Cardiff. “But we have cover and didn’t want to take any risks.”
