Clough signs Buxton from Burton
The 24-year-old played under Clough during his time at the Pirelli Stadium and will link up with him again upon the expiry of his contract with Burton.
"He will come in hoping to take his chance and give it a good go," Clough said of Buxton, who will sign a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
"Jake's attitude is first-class and we hope we will surprise a few people. He is one of those lads who will put his body on the line and throw himself at absolutely everything.
"Jake does not have the experience at this level but he will make up for that with the desire and heart he has."
Buxton made 174 appearances for Mansfield and was captain of the side before moving to Burton last summer.
