Voy Por Ustedes may have to undergo a thorough check-up before his racing future is decided.

Connections are concerned about his performances this year after a glittering career yielding an Arkle, a Queen Mother Champion Chase and two victories in the Melling Chase alongside many other Graded races.

Voy Por Ustedes weakened into fifth in the Ryanair at Cheltenham and looked substandard in his previous two starts. Trainer Alan King had suggested stepping him back up to three miles at Aintree but Barry Simpson, racing manager to owner Sir Robert Ogden, said: "We haven't made our minds up yet."

He added: "He might well be retired and we will think about taking him back home and try to see if everything is all right.

"He has underperformed this season - his form has not been anywhere near the standard he has shown before."
