Messi v Ronaldo: supercars

08 December 2015 13:25

They may be swapping ownership of the Balon d'Or award as the worlds best footballer over the past few years but who has been SO good this year that Santa has rewarded them with an extra fluffy set of dice to hang off their rear-view mirror? With the countdown to Christmas well and truly underway we not only offer a supercar discount thanks to our friends at Track Days by using the promocode FOOTY15 but will also endeavour to see who has the advantage when it comes supercars with two of the most richly talented footballers of this generation.

When you are as rich as the best football players in the world you don't have one outrageously fabulous supercar, you don't even have a handful, you have a collection. Quite how many that means is unclear, I imagine it like a stamp or coin collection, it's an ongoing affair, you know that they are all in your shoebox/hanger when you want to look at them/drive them. So lets take a look at some of the cars in those hangers to provide the basis for our not very scientific analysis.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Well known for his love of supercars, Cristiano Ronaldo has a collection that is virtually without equal in the upper echelons of footballing nobility. The 30-year-old Real Madrid forward has a garage bursting with the biggest supercar names such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Audi and Bentley to name but some. His most expensive purchase by far has been the $1.7million spent on his Bugatti Veyron with his recent Rolls-Royce next at a mere $400k.

BMW M6, Bentley Continental GTC, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sports Coupe, Posche Cayenne, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Audi Q7, Ferrari F430, Porsche 911 Carrera 2S Cabrioet, Bentley GT Speed, Audi R8, Audi Rs6, Maserati GranCabrio, Ferrari 599 GTO, Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Mercedes Benz C220 CDI, Bugatti Veyron, Aston Martin DB9, Phantom Rolls-Royce.

Well, thankfully, you don't need to spend the estimated $5million to get a feel for what it is like to drive multiple supercars. Check out Track Days for the latest Supercar experience days.

Leo Messi

Messi famously has a Maserati GranTurismo MC Sradale which is a very limited edition supercar and certainly unlike anything in the Cristiano Ronaldo garage. The car is capable of 188mph and is certainly an able steed but is it in the same league as the Veyron or Lamborghini Aventador which can hit 217mph? It could be argued that the Maserati offers a more refined and comfortable driving experience befitting a man who prefers more modest displays of wealth.

Ferrari F430 Spider, Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, Audi R8 Spider.

If you are out of ideas for something very special to get someone why send them on a Driving Experience in a Ferrari or Lamborghini for a spin around your local track and let us know which you prefer? Use FOOTY15 at www.trackdays.co.uk for 10% off from us (valid to the end of the day Xmas Eve).

Send us your photos of football stars and their cars and we will feature them on the site.
