Portsmouth v Burnley Live

Portsmouth face Premier League new-boys Burnley at Fratton Park on Saturday in a game that new boss Avram Grant will be desperate to take something from.

Pompey are still rooted to the foot of the table but have the chance to close the gap on their nearest rivals with a win against Owen Coyle's Clarets.

Grant will be keen to further expose Burnley's struggles on the road that has saw the team pick up just one point - in an epic 3-3 draw at big-spending Manchester City - from a possible 21.

This is a problem Coyle will be keen to arrest as soon as possible if they are to avoid a relegation dogfight in their debut season in England's top-flight.

The south coast side are seven points from safety and it is in games like these that they need to start picking up maximum points from if they are to give themselves a chance of survival as they were beaten by Aston Villa on Tuesday night 4-2 in the Carling Cup quarter-finals to add to their woes.

Aruna Dindane, who opened his Premier League account with a hat-trick against Wigan Athletic in a 4-0 home win at the end of October, will be the hosts' chief goal threat this weekend and could be partnered in attack by Nwankwo Kanu, Frederic Piquionne or John Utaka if Grant opts for an offensive line-up.

Goalkeeper David James (calf) will miss out as will defensive duo Linvoy Primus (ankle), Steve Finnan (groin) and midfielder Papa Bouba Diop (hamstring).

The visitors are still without Martin Paterson and Chris McCann (both knee) although the pair are nearing fitness after lengthy lay-offs.

Burnley have drifted down the table in recent times after winning just once in their last six outings.

They lost 5-3 against West Ham United last Saturday after being 5-0 down at one stage.
