Morecambe FC were formed in 1920, and joined the Lancashire Combination league. In 1924, then finished as champions, and then the following year were runners up. This was a pretty successful time for the Shrimps, however they had to endure over 30 years before winning further silverware – a tough time for the fans. In 1961 however, they became Lancashire Combination Champion for the 2nd time, and retained the trophy the following season.

They went on to win the league in 1966-67 season, and also 1967-68 season. 1968 they became founder members of the Northern Premier League. 1973 the Shrimps won the FA Trophy for the first time in their history. More recently they have joined the Conference division in 1994, and come runners up in 2002-03 season, but failed to get promoted after losing to Dagenham and Redbridge in the Playoffs.
