16 November 2010 21:58
Vale coast through Port Vale coasted to an FA Cup second round home date against Accrington after an easy 5-0 replay victory over Blue Square South League outfit Dartford. The visitors from Kent made an encouraging start with Ryan Hayes cutting in from the right to crack a left-foot shot over the top. But the writing was already on the wall with mounting pressure from Vale before Paul Goodacre tripped Gary Roberts to concede a 17th-minute penalty. Marc Richards sent Andrew Young the wrong way from the spot and Richards captalised on poor defending to add his second nine minutes later. Dartford almost got a lift in the 56th minute when Stuart Tomlinson made a tremendous save from Lee Burns, but the game was over less than a minute later. Rob Taylor bent over a cross from the right wing and the ball travelled all the way to the back post where Sean Rigg side-footed home from point-blank range. Justin Richards clipped Vale's fourth, his first goal for 14 games, 18 minutes from time.
