Terry set for showdown talks with Capello

05 February 2010 06:56
John Terry will meet England coach Fabio Capello today to discuss damaging revelations surrounding his private life.

Capello will decide whether Terry remains the right man to captain England at the World Cup this summer in South Africa.

Terry's credentials have been put in question, after it was revealed he had an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the former girlfriend of his England team-mate Wayne Bridge.

The Chelsea captain has refused to comment, but it is understood Capello will ask for a warts and all account of Terry's off-the-field behaviour before deciding whether he can continue to wear the armband for England.

Perroncel is expected to sign a lucrative deal to tell her story, with rumours circulating that further women have come forward claiming affairs with Terry - who has two children with his wife Toni and was voted Dad of the Year in 2009.
