Two teams stuck in the mid-table mire face off on Saturday with 13th-placed Southampton hosting Crystal Palace, who currently sit just one place lower.

The pair are separated by just two points and both have been in shaky form of late, winning just one of their last five Premier League matches each.

Last time out Palace should have secured three points against Leeds United, but were made to pay for some poor finishing as they slipped to a goalless draw. Meanwhile, Saints required a pair of stunners from skipper James Ward-Prowse to overturn a two-goal deficit away at Brighton.

Southampton team news

Ralph Hasenhuttl has the rare luxury of a full squad to choose from against Palace, aside from Tino Livramento.

The full-back will unfortunately not play again this calendar year after sustaining an ACL injury during Saints' 2-2 draw with Brighton.

Crystal Palace team news

The majority of Palace's injury problems have also subsided, though Tyrick Mitchell was left out of the Leeds draw with Patrick Vieira alluding to the effects of mental and physical fatigue after a tough run of games for the youngster.

Aside from that, Nathan Ferguson is out but Luka Milivojevic is back – though his chances of featuring are pretty remote.

Southampton vs Crystal Palace prediction

These two sides have had remarkably similar seasons. Both tipped to struggle at the beginning of the campaign, they have long since secured survival and have shown flashes of their full potential at times.

They will each be keen to end the season strongly ahead of strengthening in the summer and it should be an entertaining, open game.

If Palace can rediscover their cutting edge in front of goal, you'd have to back them to win as they create chances with such ease.

Prediction: Southampton 1-2 Crystal Palace
