Manchester City have become the first club to officially confirm their withdrawal from The Super League.
On Tuesday evening it became clear that the breakaway competition was doomed to failure with, City among a number of clubs reported to be having cold feet.

Now, the Citizens have made their departure official via a statement published on their website.
"Manchester City Football Club can confirm that it has formally enacted the procedures to withdraw from the group developing plans for a European Super League."
