Man City confirm agreement to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund

Manchester City have confirmed an agreement to sign Norway striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for around £55m.

The 21-year-old was one of the most in-demand talents in world football, with early every top side expressing an interest in signing Haaland this summer because of his bargain release clause, which was initially believed to be above £60m but has now been revealed to be lower.

Eventually, it came down to a shoot-out between City and Real Madrid, with the former getting a deal over the line earlier this week, after which Haaland was quickly released by Dortmund to get things sorted out.

Confirmation of the deal is now here, with City revealing that Haaland has signed on at the Etihad Stadium.

A short statement read: "Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022.

"The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player."

90min understands that Haaland has agreed five-year deal on a wage lower than that of current top earner Kevin De Bruyne, but his contract includes plenty of bonuses which can take him up towards the Belgian's salary.

Haaland will join up with Pep Guardiola's squad this summer alongside January signing Julian Alvarez, both of whom will bolster a forward line which is already one of the most potent in the Premier League.
