Chelsea predicted lineup vs Brighton - Premier League

17 January 2022 16:01

Chelsea desperately seek to arrest some concerning Premier League form on Tuesday night, as they travel to face Brighton.

Despite some good cup results, Thomas Tuchel's men have won just one of their last six league games. Their last victory came away at Aston Villa but, since then, the Blues have been held by Tuesday's opposition Brighton, Liverpool and were beaten by Man City at the weekend.

Aiming to end their poor run of form, they'll have to beat a strong Brighton side who sit ninth in the table. Here's who Tuchel could field.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK) - With Edouard Mendy away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Kepa will continue in goal.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) -
Probably Chelsea's best performer in the defeat to Manchester City, the colossal Rudiger will inevitably start once more.

Thiago Silva (CB) - Rushed back into the starting XI last time out and could start again this Tuesday as Andreas Christensen remains unavailable.

Malang Sarr (CB) -
A few defensive absences should limit Tuchel's room for rotation at the back, so Sarr looks set for a third ever Premier League start.

2. Wing-backs & midfielders

Cesar Azpilicueta (RWB) - Wasn't great at the Etihad but the continued - and heavily felt - absence of Reece James should see him carry on as a wing-back.

N'Golo Kante (CM) - Has started four of the last five Premier League games since returning from injury.

Jorginho (CM) -
The Italian could come back into the starting XI after being left out for Mateo Kovacic in Chelsea's two previous league outings.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (LWB) - Marcos Alonso struggled at the Etihad at the weekend, so Hudson-Odoi could come into the fold for a first start since the December draw with Brighton.

3. Forwards

Mason Mount (RW) - Expect some chances up front, and expect one of those changes to be Mount returning to the starting XI.

Romelu Lukaku (ST) - The Belgian should retain his spot, but needs to up his game.

Timo Werner (LW) -
Hakim Ziyech was utterly underwhelming against City as well, so Werner should be reinstated in the front three at Brighton.
