Dons seeking Hartley swoop

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee wants to sign former Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley, who is looking to leave Championship side Bristol City. Hartley is widely tipped to link up with former employers Hearts following his release from Bristol City - but McGhee is keen on recruiting the 33-year-old.The Scottish star struggled to settle in England and wants a return north of the border to ply his trade and a tussle for his services could emerge.McGhee admitted his interest in the veteran - although he also has his eyes on Lee Hendrie should he fail in his bid to lure the player to Pittodrie."We need to add more experience to the squad," said McGhee in the Daily Record. "Hendrie or Hartley would give us that."He added: "But whether we sign Hendrie will be influenced by a lot of things including how we get on with Hartley."We have been told there is a chance of getting him and we are pursuing it. We will now approach the player and his agent and see what comes of it."We do not know at this stage what else has been offered to Hartley."
