Hercules reveal interest in Samaras

Hercules have expressed an interest in signing Celtic striker Georgios Samaras following their promotion to the Spanish Primera Liga. Samaras is currently featuring on Celtic's pre-season tour of North America and opened the scoring in Sunday's win over Seattle. However, he is attracting interest from several clubs across Europe and was wanted by Italian side Palermo before the World Cup finals.Samaras' lawyer responded to those rumours by stating the 25-year-old would see out the final 12 months of his contract at Parkhead, but he may now have an offer from Hercules to consider.Hercules' coach Esteban Vigo believes that Samaras is just the type of player they need following the club's promotion to the top flight."Samaras could be a key piece in our project to stay in La Liga next season," said Vigo in the Daily Record."We believe he has the same style of Nikola Zigic, who was a success at Valencia before being sold to Birmingham."We think Samaras can solve our problems in attack. He has other offers from European clubs, but we have made our interest known and expect an answer this week."Hoops boss Neil Lennon said of Samaras' potential move: "I think they have put a bid in, but I don't know how much for."I don't know how concrete it is, I've not spoken to Peter Lawwell."Sami is a bit of an enigma, really. But he certainly gave us food for thought after Toronto."We will contemplate what we are going to do but he is in that boat where he has a year left on his contract."
