De Ridder considers Latics exit

Daniel De Ridder is hoping Wigan boss Roberto Martinez will let him leave if he does not figure in his first-team plans. The Dutch midfielder failed to make a single appearance for the Latics last season and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Hapoel Tel-Aviv.He is now back at the DW Stadium, and has a year to run on his current contract, but admits he will look to move on if things do not improve. The 26-year-old is set to hold showdown talks with Martinez in an effort to determine where he stands and has revealed that he will ask for a move if he is not considered to be a candidate for a starting role."I would love to stay here at Wigan, but only if I am playing regularly," said the former Birmingham winger."That's what every player wants and that's my only goal at the moment."I will be speaking to Roberto and whatever comes out of that chat will make the situation a bit clearer for myself."Then we'll make the right decision for all parties."The career of a footballer is so short and I cannot waste any more time. That's my feeling."If I'm not going to be playing then I hope that the manager will be honest about it, and I think that he will be."
