Hartlepool's new season preparations continue this weekend with a friendly against Leeds at Victoria Park and boss Chris Turner feels this will be a closer examination of his side.
Pools have spent a week in Holland as part of their pre-season but Turner believes the newly-promoted Championship side will be the level of opposition they need to be ready for when the new campaign begins.
Speaking to the club's official website he said: "I think this game will give the players more of an indication about where they are in terms of preparations.
"We've worked on a lot of new things on the training ground in terms of shape and style of play so coming up against a team like Leeds will test that."
Turner will assess the injuries of strikers Adam Boyd and James Brown before making a decision over their inclusion in the game.
He said: "We have a few niggling injury problems with Adam and James at the moment so we'll just have to wait and see on those two."
