Redknapp Keane on strike duo

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has backed the partnership of Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe to trigger in the season run-in. Spurs have lost top scorer Darren Bent with a knee injury and Redknapp has been working with Keane and Defoe in training this week.The two have not started together since their January returns to North London, and many still doubt their ability to form a partnership after mixed performances in their previous spell together at the club.But Redknapp has rejected claims they are too similar in build to play together, pointing out that it was a different team behind them before."Maybe in their spell together at Tottenham, nobody could play together," said Redknapp. "If you look at the results, they had a long spell of not winning games."The year before they had that great year with Martin Jol and finished fifth - I don't know how many times they played together that year but the following year they were a bottom-of-the-table team."If you can play through Luka Modric and Keane, with the movement of Defoe it could be a fantastic pairing."Meanwhile Redknapp has admitted that he has his sights on potential summer signings and will target established players to strengthen the squad."I just want players who can come in and make us a better team," he said. "The players that I have in mind are playing very well and in their prime."
